Your Gold Tone instrument is warranted to be free of defects in materials and workmanship to the original owner for an unlimited amount of time. Gold Tone will correct any construction failures without charge. Owner must cover shipping charges to and from the Gold Tone company. This warranty does not cover repairs necessitated by normal use; damage caused by misuse or accident; exposure to extremes of moisture or temperature; lacquer checking or cracking; or repair to an instrument that has been repaired by anyone other than Gold Tone or a Gold Tone authorized person.

The new Solid Top GM-55A is the best sounding A style mandolin we’ve heard for under $1000 (List $738). The sound quality is mainly due to a unique oil finish that is much thinner than urethane yet very protective while allowing the instrument to vibrate freely compared to a lacquer or polyurethane finish. The oil finish cannot be simply painted on, or applied and left to soak in. This hand rubbed finish must be rubbed into the wood using an abrasive applicator and a fair amount of elbow grease. Essentially, there must be enough heat and friction to break-down the wax content of the finish, so it will penetrate into the pores of the wood. The antique appearance is unique and quite different then a satin or gloss finish. For those wondering why the appearance is slightly different then the usual, simply play the instrument and you will understand Gold Tone's reasoning with its surprising volume and tone!!!

They’ve also radiused the ebony fingerboard for easy playability and included a fingerboard scoop. Includes a cast tail piece with easy string removal and high quality machine heads for tuning stability. This A-style will compete, sound and playability-wise, with all others at an incredible price point.

This solid top A-style mandolin is a replica of a famous vintage mandolin. The curly maple back helps promote consistent volume. Each GM-50 undergoes a complete professional setup in the Gold Tone Factory in Florida. To increase tone, they sand the bridge feet for a perfect fit with the arched top. To assure the best playability, they level, crown and polish frets, oil the fingerboard, adjust slots in the nut and bridge, and electronically intonate the bridge. This attention to detail assures every GM-50 of excellent tone and the lowest possible string action.
